The commemorative coins will be issued in three denominations — Gold (proof), Sterling Silver (proof), and Nordic Gold Brilliant Uncirculated (B.U.).
In conjunction with the installation of His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim as the 17th King of Malaysia on 20 July 2024, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) announced the issuance of commemorative coins on 2 October 2024.
The commemorative coins will be issued in three denominations:
Gold (proof) commemorative coin
This coin is made of gold with 999.9 purity and weighs 8g. It has a face value of RM100 and will be sold at RM3,250 per piece. The mintage quantity is 300 pieces.
Sterling Silver (proof) commemorative coin
This coin is made of sterling silver with 92.5 purity and weighs 31g. It has a face value of RM10 and will be sold at RM275 per piece. The mintage quantity is 1,300 pieces.
Nordic Gold Brilliant Uncirculated (B.U.) commemorative coin
This coin is made of copper and several other metals and weighs 8.5g. The coin has a face value of RM1 and will be sold at RM16.50 per piece. The mintage quantity is 5,000 pieces.
The commemorative coins will also available for sale in a set of 2, comprising of one sterling silver (proof) coin and one Nordic gold (proof) coin. Each set is priced at RM330 and a total of 1,300 sets will be available for purchase.

Note: Prices stated above will be inclusive of 10% Sales and Services Tax (SST), except for the gold commemorative coins which are exempted under Clause 71.18 Sales Tax Act (Goods Exempted from Tax) Order 2022.

Obverse – The portrait of His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong XVII Sultan Ibrahim will be featured at the centre of the coin against a stylised black pepper plant motif.
His Majesty’s name, "SULTAN IBRAHIM" will be inscribed on the upper circumference of the coin.
Reverse – The centre of the coin depicts the image of the royal insignia of His Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong against a stylised black pepper plant motif.
The text "PERTABALAN SERI PADUKA BAGINDA YANG DI-PERTUAN AGONG XVII" will be inscribed on the upper circumference of the coin while the text "BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA" as the issuing authority is shown at the bottom circumference along with the face value of
- "100 RINGGIT" for gold (proof),
- "10 RINGGIT" for sterling silver (proof), and
- "1 RINGGIT" for Nordic gold B.U.
Sale of Commemorative Coins
To ensure everyone has a fair chance to purchase these limited-edition coins, each individual will be allowed to buy only one Set of 2, one gold (proof) coin, one sterling silver (proof) coin, and up to five Nordic gold B.U. coins.
Orders can be placed at duit.bnm.gov.my from 11:00 a.m. on 2 October 2024 until 11:00 p.m. on 13 October 2024.
The public is encouraged to submit orders directly through BNM’s online system, avoiding any third parties.
All orders will be considered equally, with no priority given to the time or date of submission. If the demand exceeds availability, a balloting process will be conducted.
