Football Association of Malaysia has terminated 20 staff to cut operating costs

According to the Bernama, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has terminated the services of 20 staff effective since 3 April.

The decision to trim the workforce was to reduce the operating cost of FAM and ensure the administration of the association meet its intended direction.

FAM secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin said: "FAM president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and the executive committee agreed to restructure the administration of FAM.”

“The 20 staff whose services were terminated today will receive three months’ salary before 15 April,” he added.

He noted that the restructure exercise would see the departments within the FAM streamlined according to the responsibilities of the department.
