Traditional paper entry declaration forms will remain acceptable until the end of 2025.
Starting 24 February 2025, foreign travellers to South Korea can submit their entry declaration forms online (aka the e-Arrival card) up to three days in advance of their arrival, according to the Ministry of Justice of the country.
Under the country’s regulation, all foreign nationals entering South Korea are required to submit the entry declaration form, except:
- registered residents in South Korea (including Permanent Resident Card and Overseas Korean Resident Card holders),
- valid K-ETA approval holders,
- holders of group (electronic) visas,
- airline crew members, etc.
Those who have submitted the e-Arrival Card will no longer be required to fill out a paper entry declaration form. Additionally, they do not need to bring a printed copy of the e-Arrival card when entering the country.
This initiative aims to streamline the immigration process, reduce congestion at airports, and support the growth of foreign tourism, as reported by local media citing the Ministry of Justice.
The e-Arrival card is free of charge, and is valid for 72 hours. Travallers must submit a new application after the validity period.
To minimise confusion for travellers during the early stages of the e-Arrival card system's implementation, the Ministry of Justice has stated that both paper and electronic arrival cards will be accepted until the end of 2025.
