The scheme is slated to be rolled out in mid-May.

Update (9/6): More than 370 employees from PricewaterhouseCoopers Hong Kong (PwC) were administered with the BioNTech vaccine today. This marked the highest number of doses administered at an enterprise in a single day since the launch of the outreach service. After receiving the vaccination, the staff were granted vaccination leave.

Update (18/5): Deloitte is the first company that joined the scheme, with about 180 employees in its Admiralty branch getting their first or second vaccine jabs. Before the vaccination day, the accounting firm circulated information throughout the company and organised a webinar in which doctors would answer any queries from employees regarding the vaccine. The company also prepared a small gift i.e. energy bars and drinks and offered a day off for the participants.

Hong Kong government is working on an outreach COVID-19 vaccination programme for businesses in Hong Kong in a bid to boost COVID-19 vaccinations among the workforce, as revealed by the Civil Service Bureau.

Once companies gather a certain number of employees who want to get vaccinated and designate an office area for vaccination, the government will assign a team of medical staff from vaccination centres straight to their office. The procedure will be similar to the existing practices.

Both Sinovac and Pfizer-BioNTech jabs will be available. Employers just need to mark down each employee's preference on the jab of choice beforehand.

Discussion is currently underway between the government and the construction industry, consultancies, and public utilities etc. Further information will be revealed next week, and the scheme is slated to be rolled out in mid-May.

The Civil Service Bureau's spokesperson told Human Resources Online that the government hopes that participating enterprises can encourage employees who have yet to be vaccinated to take action.

As of today (14 May), 1.1mn Hongkongers, which is about 17% of the city's total population, have received the first dose of a COVID vaccine.
