Hong Kong’s most attractive employers in 2024

Also, check out the top employers in nine other sectors in the city.

Richemont has been identified as the most attractive employer in Hong Kong SAR at Randstad’s 12th annual Employer Brand Research.

Having surveyed 2,689 respondents in the SAR, comprising job seekers & employees, the Hong Kong-headquartered luxury company climbed to the top, improving significantly from its 6th position in 2023.

This echoes the luxury and retail sector being polled at 62% as the most attractive sector to work for.

Meanwhile, the top employers in nine other sectors have also been revealed.

Most attractive sector to work for in Hong Kong SAR are:

  1. Luxury and retail
  2. Healthcare
  3. ESG and infrastructure

According the research, Hong Kong employees see “attractive salary and benefits” as the first priority when they look for ideal employers. Of the respondents looking for new job opportunities, 28% said that they are quitting because of low pay and rising living costs.

In addition, “offering employees equal opportunities regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, etc.” is also becoming increasingly crucial to Hong Kong job seekers.

However, 43% of respondents see themselves as a minority at work due to varying reasons. Those who identify as a minority at work are 16% more likely to struggle with career progression.

Approximately half of the local respondents said that they face career advancement barriers, with 55% of males feeling that they face career roadblocks due to their identity, outplacing females who report such experiences.
