HR Excellence Awards 2023, Malaysia: Finalists unveiled

Held on 6 October 2023, this 11th edition will see gold, silver, and bronze awards given out across 37 categories, culminating in the Overall HREA Winner award.

The 11th edition of HR Excellence Awards, Malaysia is a month away, and Human Resources Online (HRO) is thrilled to announce who has made it as a finalist!

The HR Excellence Awards is dedicated to recognising and celebrating the extraordinary achievements and innovations in HR management within the nation, and this year's edition illuminates HR strategies, protocols, and initiatives that have significantly enriched employee engagement, elevated organisational efficiency, and nurtured holistic business success.

A total of 78 finalists have made the cut across 37 categories, vying for the coveted gold, silver, bronze, and Overall HREA Winner awards which will be announced at a gala night on 06 October 2023 (Friday) at Hilton KL.

Meet the jury

HRO is delighted to present this year's jury panel, which boasts a lineup of senior HR professionals from Alliance Bank Malaysia, Aramex, Boustead Properties, Coway Malaysia, Danone Specialized Nutrition Malaysia, Duopharma Biotech, Esthetics International Group, Etika Group of Companies, Evolution Commerce, Goodhope Asia Holdings, Infinity Group, Keysight Technologies, KPJ Healthcare, Lactalis Malaysia, Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering, Maxis, Nestlé Indochina, Pentas Flora, Pop Meals, Pos Malaysia, Sunway Theme Parks, and Vale.

Here's what some of these jury members have had to share about the judging experience:

Ben Ong, Regional HR Director, Asia, Aramex: "It was very insightful to learn about the various strategic initiatives from both local and international organisations. While there are many similar initiatives, the winning entries differentiated themselves by clearly highlighting the strategic goals of these programmes and its measurable impact to the organisation.

"HR needs to be laser-focused on ‘impact to the business’ and less on ‘effort from HR’."

Shalina Rusli, Chief Corporate Officer, Boustead Properties: "It was an insightful and inspiring experience to be given the opportunity to judge the entries for the HR Excellence Awards. HR has evolved remarkably post COVID-19 showcasing strategies and innovative initiatives focusing on the importance of employee experience and wellbeing in propelling the performance of the organisation and its people."

Mohd Fairuz Khan, General Manager, Human Resources, Duopharma Biotech: "It's refreshing to see employee engagement and wellbeing take centrestage and become the focus of this year's projects, with which employers are able to strike a balance between pushing the boundaries of their employees' capabilities and keeping them engaged at the same time."

Dr. Loo Leap Han, Head of People, Infinity Group: "This year's competition was fierce, with exceptionally high-calibre entries in every category. Reviewing and scoring nominations was an inspiring, rewarding experience, and granted me valuable insights into various best HR approaches. It's commendable to see the hard work and dedication that the HR best minds showcase in their application.

"Their contributions have positively influenced the people and workplace dynamics. It was an honour to judge these entries."

Sandy Ma, Head of Human Resource, Keysight Technologies: "I am impressed to see various unique and effective People strategies and programmes implemented to support respective business transformation and shape the organisation’s future."
