Indonesia's public holidays for 2025

A total of 10 mass leave days to look forward to for Chinese New Year, Eid Al-Fitr, and more.

Individuals residing in Indonesia can look forward to 17 national holidays and 10 collective leave (mass leave) days in 2025.

According to a joint ministerial decree by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Minister of Manpower, and Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reforms, the list of national holidays is as follows:

  1. 1 January (Wednesday): 2025 New Year
  2. 27 January (Monday): Isra Mi‘raj of the Prophet Muhammad SAW.
  3. 29 January (Wednesday): Chinese New Year 2576 Kongzili
  4. 29 March (Saturday): Silence Day (Saka New Year of 1947)
  5. 31 March-1 April (Monday-Tuesday): Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri
  6. 18 April (Friday): Good Friday
  7. 20 April (Sunday): Resurrection of Jesus Christ (Easter)
  8. 1 May (Thursday): International Labour Day
  9. 12 May (Monday): Vesak Day 2569 BE
  10. 29 May (Thursday): Ascension Day of Jesus Christ
  11. 1 June (Sunday): Pancasila Day
  12. 6 June (Friday): Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijri
  13. 27 June (Friday): Islamic New Year 1 Muharram 1447 Hijri
  14. 17 August (Sunday): Proclamation Day
  15. 5 September (Friday): Mawlid of Prophet Muhammad SAW.
  16. 25 December (Thursday): Christmas

Meanwhile, the mass leave days for 2025 are:

  1. 28 January (Tuesday) Chinese New Year 2576 Kongzili
  2. 28 March (Friday) Silence Day (Saka New Year of 1947)
  3. 2, 3, 4, and 7 April (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Monday) Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri
  4. 13 May (Tuesday) Vesak Day 2569 BE
  5. 30 May (Friday) Ascension Day of Jesus Christ
  6. 9 June (Monday) Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijri
  7. 26 December (Friday) Christmas

The Decree stated: "The stipulation of the first day of Ramadan 1446 Hijri, the Eid al-Fitr holiday 1446 Hijri, and the Eid al-Adha holiday 1446 Hijri shall be determined by a Ministerial Decree."

Additionally, it shared that working units, organisations, institutions, or companies that provide direct services to the public at the central and/or regional level, such as hospitals, public health centers, institutions that provide telecommunication, electricity, drinking water, firefighting, safety and security, banking, transportation, and other similar working units/institutions/companies, are required to arrange the assignment of the employees/workers during the national holidays and mass leaves in 2025.

"The implementation of the mass leaves as referred may reduce the annual leave rights of employees/workers in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations and the provisions applicable to each work unit/organization/institution/company," it highlighted.

It should also be noted that the implementation of mass leave for state apparatus is carried out in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations; and for private institutions, it is regulated by each respective head.
