The flexible office space provides various work facilities and open areas to cater to the growing demand for hybrid working.

IWG has further expanded its footprint in Hong Kong by opening a new ‘Spaces’ centre at 8 Queen’s Road East (8QRE) in Admiralty, marking the brand’s seventh location in the city and bolstering IWG’s local portfolio to a total of 18 centres across three brands – Spaces, Regus, and Signature.

With over 67,000 square feet of flexible office space, ‘Spaces at 8QRE’ spans the entire 18-storey building, providing various work facilities to suit the needs of companies of all sizes. The new centre also features a two-floor open space named ‘Business Club’, specially designed for social exchanges among the wider professional community.

Paul MacAndrew, Country Manager for IWG in Hong Kong & Greater Bay Area, said flexspaces will continue to play a key role in enabling the future of work as more employees are eager to work more in a hybrid manner instead of coming to the office every day.

“The pandemic has forced companies to work differently. Productivity didn't have to suffer, people can work from varied locations, being as productive and even more productive,” MacAndrew told Human Resources Online at the launch event. “Flexible or hybrid working has been proven to be the right strategy. Companies now are looking how they can implement it.”

According to recent IWG research, a majority (76%) of office workers in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) are more likely to apply for a job that offers hybrid working, with more than half (51%) preferring flexible working to a 10% pay rise. Embracing the trend, MacAndrew said companies are gradually adopting this working model, with the banking industry as one of the prominent examples.

“The industry is significantly reducing its footprint, over 300,000 square feet have been reduced by the banks in Hong Kong since back in 2020,” said MacAndrew.

“We're seeing the evolution of smaller head offices and more hybrid and dispersed workforce now and the evolution what we're seeing will just continue and grow.”
