In 2022, as many as 13 projects have generated 6,221 job opportunities, Malaysia's Minister of International Trade and Industry Tengku Zafrul Aziz shared.

Hong Kong has been dubbed Malaysia's ninth largest trading partner in 2022, with total trade adding up to RM113.2bn in the year, according to a post by Malaysia's Minister of International Trade and Industry Tengku Zafrul Aziz.

This amount is an increase from RM94.26bn recorded in 2021, he added. In terms of investment, in 2022, as many as 13 projects have generated 6,221 job opportunities.

Minister Zafrul shared this on the back of a recent visit to Hong Kong, where he met with John Lee, Chief Executive of Hong Kong, to discuss potential cooperation under the ASEAN-Hong Kong Free Trade Agreement framework; cooperation in the financial sector especially in the facilitation of halal trade and human capital development, and the increase in trade in palm oil-related products.

Minister Zafrul shared: "Malaysia remains firm in its commitment to become a pro-industrial, pro-trade and pro-investment country in line with Madani's Malaysian aspirations which are based on accountability, efficiency, and transparency.

"I hope the Malaysia-HK economic relationship will continue to be strong, especially in advancing strategic cooperation towards sustainable economic growth."
