Malaysia launches Madani TVET portal, sees new MoUs signed on taking TVET forward

Following a discussion on continuous improvement of the TVET ecosystem, a change in the administration of the National TVET Council was agreed upon, alongwith a simpler structure and flexible membership.

Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi on Tuesday (28 June 2023) chaired a recent meeting on the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training Council (MTVET) Bill 2/2023.

Attended by a line of ministers from 12 TVET-related Ministries, the meeting discussed steps for the continuous improvement of Malaysia's TVET ecosystem overall, including the specific rationalisation of TVET programmes in each TVET-related Ministry based on demand and marketability data.

Following the discussion, several decisions on matters such as an agreed change in the administration of the National TVET Council. This would include a simpler structure, flexible membership, and a focus on problem-solving to enable a clearer and more structured implementation of initiatives by all stakeholders.

On that note, Deputy Minister Zahid also officiated the Launch of Madani TVET Portal, and witnessed the exchange of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) of the transformation of the TVET Programme, signed between the Government with Government-linked companies (GLCs) and private companies.

As many as 16 companies are involved in this MoU exchange, and henceforth will be industry strategic partners involved directly in the implementation of the country's TVET programme.

Deputy Minister Zahid noted that this will be a cooperative platform covering all public skills training institutions under 12 ministries with GLCs and private companies based on a mutually-agreed field and scope.
