This joint initiative aims to enable state agencies to improve public services in key areas, as well as advance projects that drive tourism and increase agricultural yields.
The Selangor State Secretary's Office announced on 25 March 2025 that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google Cloud, through the Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDC), to launch Teraju AI Selangor, a joint initiative aims to equip state government agencies with tailored AI solutions to address real-world challenges and benefit the community.
According to the Facebook post by Pejabat Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri Selangor, Teraju AI Selangor will enable state agencies to improve public services in areas such as:
- Public communication,
- Education,
- Healthcare,
- Transportation,
- Physical infrastructure maintenance, as well as
- Advance projects that drive tourism and increase agricultural yields.
Under Teraju AI Selangor, the Selangor State Government has invested in an AI innovation sandbox, said to be the first of its kind in the Malaysian public sector. The sandbox, established by STDC and Google Cloud, will provide participating agencies funded access to Google Cloud’s fully integrated AI technology network for up to six weeks.
Google Cloud's technology framework was specifically developed to meet the AI innovation needs of the public sector comprehensively, including the aspects of understanding, security and privacy.
The event was attended by:
- YAB Dato' Seri Amirudin bin Shari, Chief Minister of Selangor,
- YB Dato' Dr. Ahmad Fadzli bin Ahmad Tajuddin, Secretary of the Selangor State Government,
- YB Datuk Dr. Haniff bin Zainal Abidin, State Financial Officer, and
- Senior management of the Selangor State Government.
