In addition, starting from 1 January 2025, Zhuhai permanent residents can apply for a ‘one trip per week’ travel permit to Macao.

Approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Mainland's Exit and Entry Administration has announced the resumption of the multiple-entry Individual Visit Scheme (IVS) to Hong Kong for Shenzhen permanent residents. The eligibility has also been expanded to Shenzhen non-permanent residents holding residence permits.

Starting from 1 December 2024, both Shenzhen permanent residents and residence permit holders can apply for the multiple-entry IVS to travel to Hong Kong. They can visit the SAR with unlimited entry within a year, and stay for no longer than seven days per visit.

Effective the same day, the Entry and Exit Administration Office of the Shenzhen Municipality will no longer accept applications for a ‘one trip per week’ IVS to Hong Kong. The issued endorsements can still be used within the validity period.

The HKSAR Government welcomes and is grateful for this arrangement. Hong Kong Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Kevin Yeung said the arrangement will substantially increase the number of visitors to Hong Kong, further stimulating Hong Kong's tourism, retail, and catering industries, and the economy.

On the other hand, starting from 1 January 2025, Zhuhai permanent residents can also apply for a ‘one trip per week’ IVS to Macao. Permit holders can visit Macao SAR once and only once weekly within a year and stay for a maximum of seven days per visit.

Meanwhile, residents and residence permit holders of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin can apply for the multiple-entry IVS to travel to Macao for a stay of seven days at a time without restrictions on the number of visits.

Eligible residents or residence permit holders of Shenzhen, Zhuhai, and Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin can submit applications to the local Entry and Exit Administration Offices.
