Singapore's ICA Services Centre to adjust hours and enhance digital services effective 2 September 2024

The new hours will be 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, maintaining the current schedule for weekdays but closing on Saturdays.

Effective 2 September 2024 (Monday), Singapore's Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) Services Centre at the ICA Building will operate Monday through Friday, excluding public holidays. This is a move from its current operating days, i.e., Monday to mid-Saturday.

The new operating hours will be 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, maintaining the current schedule for weekdays but closing on Saturdays.

Here are the key updates shared in a press release by ICA

Digital transformation

ICA said it has significantly advanced its digital services, reducing the need for in-person visits. Most services are now available online, allowing customers to complete transactions without having to come down to the centre.

Reduced traffic on Saturday

From 2019 to 2023, Saturday visits to the ICA Services Centre dropped by 50%. Nearly 95% of customers now submit their applications online.

Digital documents

Since May 2022 and February 2023, respectively, ICA has transitioned to digital formats for documents such as birth and death certificates and long-term passes. These digital documents are accessible via the MyICA mobile app, MyICA e-Service, My Legacy portal, and FileSG, eliminating the need for physical visits.

Collection points

Currently, only passports and identity cards require physical collection. To enhance convenience, ICA has partnered with SingPost for collection at designated outlets islandwide. Approximately 70% of these documents are collected at SingPost outlets, which are open on Saturdays and some Sundays.
