Singapore updates COVID-19 vaccination recommendations: Individuals encouraged to receive additional dose in 2023 or 2024

According to the Ministry of Health, individuals should take an additional dose around one year, but no earlier than five months, after their last vaccine dose.

Under Singapore's updated COVID-19 vaccine recommendations, people aged six months and above are encouraged to receive an additional dose in 2023 or 2024 — especially recommended for all individuals aged 60 and above, medically vulnerable individuals, and residents of aged care facilities.

Previously, the recommendation was for people aged 60 and above, residents of aged care facilities, and the medically vulnerable to receive a one-year booster dose.

Individuals should take an additional dose in 2023/2024, around one year, but no earlier than five months, after their last vaccine dose.

Along with the recommendation shared on 28 October 2023 (Saturday), the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) has also approved the use of Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty and Moderna/Spikevax COVID-19 vaccines in Singapore. According to the Ministry of Health, the updated vaccines provide a stronger immune response against current and emerging strains compared to older versions of the vaccines.

Individuals may start taking the updated vaccines from the following dates:

Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty monovalent vaccine

  • Individuals aged five years and above: From 30 Oct 2023
  • Children aged six months to four years: From 20 Nov 2023

Moderna/Spikevax monovalent vaccine

  • Individuals aged six months and above: From 14 Nov 2023

To receive the vaccines, individuals may Joint Testing and Vaccination Centre (JTVC), Public Health Preparedness Clinic (PHPC), or polyclinic offering the vaccine. The nearest vaccination site and the types of vaccines offered at each site are listed here

Those who prefer to book an appointment for their vaccination can either call the clinic directly or do so here.
