Budget airline Tigerair Taiwan has been reported to give out a high bonus of 10.8 months on average.

With the rebounding demand for air travel post-pandemic bringing in record-high revenues, major Taiwanese airlines have decided to give generous bonuses and salary increments for employees this year, according to Taiwan’s Central News Agency (CNA).

Among them, budget airline Tigerair Taiwan has announced to give a bonus of 10.8 months on average to its employees, the highest among all Taiwanese airlines.

As cited by CNA, on top of the staff bonuses already paid in August and December last year, Tigerair Taiwan has approved a proposal to give four months of salaries, a standard bonus of NT$20,000, as well as performance-based bonuses between NT$50,000 and NT$80,000 to its employees this year.

This means top-performing employees could receive the highest bonus of as much as 14 months of wages.

Meanwhile, the airline has also decided to raise employees' salaries by 4% on average, and employees’ food subsidies by 12%, for 2024.

China Airlines, on the other hand, will pay a bonus of five months of salary. Employees will also receive a one-time cash reward of NT$20,000 and an average increase of 4% in salary.

EVA Airways (EVA Air) will also pay the highest year-end bonuses to employees since the company was founded, equalling six months' salary, plus an average monthly pay increase of NT$5,000 for crew and ground staff and of NT$11,000 to NT$20,000 for pilots.

Though relatively lower than other airlines, startup carrier Starlux Airlines announced last year to provide employees with a one-month bonus and a salary increase of NT$2,000, with an additional transport allowance of NT$1,000.
