Thailand's Public Relations Department (PRD) has announced the signing of a visa waiver agreement between Thailand and Qatar on Monday (4 March 2025).

Signed by Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiamponsa (pictured above, left) and Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi (pictured above, right), the waiver will be applied to holder of diplomatic and official or special passports.

Through this agreement, diplomatic relations are expected to strengthen between both parties as travel for government officials from both countries have been facilitated. This further reaffirms ongoing cooperation between Thailand and Qatar in various sectors such as foreign policy and regional security.

At the signing, both ministers also discussed the developments in the Middle East, highlighting regional challenges and areas of mutual concern. Aside from that, Minister Maris expressed his appreciation for Qatar’s role in assisting in the release of five Thai citizens from the Gaza Strip back in January.

As further diplomatic exchanges of regional issues and areas of shared interest were being addressed, the agreement follows ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral ties and expand cooperation between Thailand and Qatar.
