Up the Ranks: David Lim ranks up to PVH Corp’s EVP People for APAC

In his expanded role, Lim will lead and drive people strategies and talent initiatives for the company’s iconic brands, and lead the supply division for HR, supporting Asia, Indian Sub-Continent and Africa regions.

David Lim (pictured above) has been promoted to Executive Vice President People, Asia Pacific at PVH Corp, effective July 2024.

In his expanded role, Lim has the regional leadership responsibilities and accountabilities to lead and drive people strategies and talent initiatives for the company’s iconic brands Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger across the Asia Pacific region, including commercial markets ranging from China, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia.

In addition, he will lead the supply division for HR supporting Asia, Indian Sub-Continent and Africa regions, covering 14 countries spanning from Mainland China, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Cambodia, to India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, as well as Kenya, Mauritius, Egypt, and Ethiopia.

These come after his added responsibilities for business transformation, which he took up last year, to drive various transformational programmes and projects across the APAC region.

Lim reports directly to the Regional President, PVH Asia Pacific, with a dual reporting relationship to the Chief People Officer.

Lim tells HRO exclusively that his first priority in his new role will be transforming and elevating HR into a high-impact people function to enable the business and drive business results. This includes leading the organisation's transformation and accentuating ways of working, while growing and investing in talent, and defining culture as a key differentiator for his people.

Recognising talent attraction and retention as the number one concern nowadays, Lim believes HR can attract talent with more money, but people don’t leave just because of money.

“People stay because they feel a sense of connection, belonging in the organisation, and a sense of purpose in the work that they do,” he elaborates.

“When they are learning and growing, they feel connected to the organisation. And people stay because they believe they are making a difference.”

Therefore, apart from creating an environment for talent to flourish, Lim emphasises: “How we ensure every associate understands and connects their work with the business strategy and goal, building the growth and learning mindset, and enhancing the associate's experience and engagement, are quite critical for talent retention.”
