Among his core responsibilities, Dr. Loo will focus on digitalising the group's HR processes, and reviewing and introducing cost-effective compensation & benefits.
Infinity Logistics & Transport, a logistics service provider based in Malaysia, has welcomed Dr. Loo Leap Han to the leadership team as Head of People, effective June 2023.
He reports to Dato' Seri Chan Kong Yew, Chief Executive Officer, Infinity Logistics & Transport.
Sharing about his new role with HRO, Dr. Loo says the role centres around the group's people strategy & practices, organisational development, and human capital analytics. His core responsibilities include:
- Assessing workforce competency and recommending learning programmes to close the gaps,
- Reviewing and introducing cost-effective compensation & benefits,
- Developing employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives,
- Digitalising the HR processes – which he deems his number one priority in his first year, and
- Building the group's talent pipeline.
Dr. Loo brings with him more than 22 years of HR industry experience in manufacturing, infrastructure construction, and healthcare. His experience in the field spans talent acquisition & management, employee competency gap analysis, HR financial and costing, organisational development & culture, employee engagement, human resource practices & process improvement, and people development. Prior to his current role, he was the Group Head of Talent Management at Biomed Global, where he oversaw the group's talent management agenda for Malaysia, Singapore, and Myanmar.
Speaking about his HR point-of-view on the current industry he works in, Dr. Loo notes that the top concern remains to build a sustainable talent ecosystem. He explains: "People perceive logistics as a 3D (Dirty, dangerous & difficult) industry, with low career prospects, and a low-skilled industry. In reality, we are a sunrise and recession-proof industry that promises great career opportunities and growth."
In that vein, he also talks about the number one area of opportunity, in terms of talent, that he is keen to leverage in the industry: Team strength-based management. "Developing our people’s strengths is an intensive process, especially in a logistics business of scale. [I will look to] cultivate an environment where everyone focuses on who’s strong in which areas and works to leverage these strengths."
