Vietnam's region-based minimum wage to remain unchanged in 2021

Vietnam's region-based minimum wage will remain unchanged in 2021, Deputy Minister of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs, Le Van Thanh, who also chairs the National Wage Council, announced on Friday (7 August).

The Minister also shared that this proposal will be submitted to the Government for further consideration.

Details on the minimum wage per region are as follows:

Region I and Region II

Region 1, which covers the urban areas under Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, is set to maintain a minimum wage of 4.42mn VND. At the same time, both Hanoi's and Ho Chi Minh City's rural areas, as well as major urban areas such as Can Tho, Da Nang and Hai Phong, will maintain it at 3.92mn VND.

Region III and Region IV

Those in this region, or provincial cities and the districts of Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, and Hai Duong provinces, will have a monthly minimum wage of 3.43mn VND, while Region IV, or the rest of the country, will receive a minimum of 3.07mn VND.

The current regional minimum wage, which is specified in Decree No. 90/2019/ND-CP and effective 1 January 2020, still applies to employees working in all types of enterprises across the regions.
