The Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign (VM2026) was officially launched on 6 January 2025 (Monday) by Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Through this campaign, the country aims to bring in 35.6mn tourists by 2026, with an expected revenue generation of RM147.1bn.

"Our goal is to promote sustainable tourism that fosters economic growth while providing meaningful experiences for visitors," the Prime Minister shared.

During the launch, the campaign’s logo, mascot, theme song, and aircraft livery wereannounced. Tourism Malaysia released a statement describing the campaign logo to be a symbol of Malaysia’s vibrant culture, natural beauty and global appeal. The logo is set to be displayed on local airlines' aircraft designs, namely Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, and AirAsia to show unity in promoting the campaign.

The official theme song titled ‘Surreal Experiences’ was also shared for the first time, seeking to convey the essence of Malaysia’s unique offerings. The endangered species of the Malayan Sun Bear has also been adopted as the official mascot for VM2026, symbolising the nation’s commitment to wildlife conservation. Its lovable and animated style aims to appeal a sense of warmth and joy to people of all ages, in efforts to position Malaysia as a welcoming destination for tourists.

The event also saw an exchange of a Memorandum of Collaboration between Malaysia Aviation Group, AirAsia, Batik Air, Malaysia Airports Holdings, Huawei, Mastercard, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents, and The Malaysian Association of Hotels. These partnerships aim to enhance connectivity, expand marketing campaigns, and deliver exceptional visitor experiences through innovative technologies, seamless travel experiences, and exclusive promotional offers.

In conjunction with the launch, the Malaysia Sarong Music Run (MSMR) 2025 will be held on 8 February at the Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur, a cultural and fitness event that is expected to attract more than 20,000 participants.
