We send you our best wishes for Ramadan

We send you our best wishes for Ramadan

Thursday, 23 April 2020 marks the auspicious start of Ramadan observed worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community. On this special occasion, we would like to wish all our readers Ramadan Kareem, and of course, Selamat Berpuasa!

At the workplace, Ramadan is usually marked by enquiring about the wellbeing of our fasting colleagues, supporting them with flexible working practices if requested, and team celebration on the occasion of Eid/Hari Raya.

As our Muslim team members, colleagues and friends fast from dawn till sunset, and use this month to grow spiritually, it is important that they are surrounded by supportive managers and colleagues in an environment where they spend most of their day.

This year, the fasting month is markedly different the world over, with several countries taking strong measures to manage the COVID-19 outbreak and comprehensively bring down community numbers.

As such, even while we’re all working remotely, we encourage you to take time out to wish colleagues who may mark the occasion, with or without fasting.

Don’t hesitate to ask your colleagues to learn more about the festival, as most of us welcome questions and the opportunity to talk about this time of reflection and growth!

In some workplaces, employees who are fasting may be encouraged to end work earlier, in lieu of the typical lunch hour, so flexible work arrangement are common during this time.

Most of all, continue to enjoy the wealth of diversity around us! We wish you all a blessed, safe and fulfilling Ramadan.
