Senior Minister (Security), Hishammuddin Hussein noted that there should be no excuses by any premise in following the SOPs, given the risk to national security.

Senior Minister of Malaysia (Security Cluster), Hishammuddin Hussein has confirmed that 810 premises, including factories, business workplaces, construction sites, and worker dormitories, have been ordered to close immediately owing to SOP violations.

He shared on Facebook: "When operational facilities are given, there should be no excuses by any premise in (following) the SOPs, given the risk to national security especially in the context of COVID-19 transmission."

He added: "Since taking over this task, I receive a daily report from PDRM-led Compliance Operation Task Force - in just over a week, 810 premises have been closed immediately due to breaches in SOPs," talking about taking over this additional role in the Security Cluster in July 2021, above his duties as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Minister Hishammuddin also clarified that while neither him nor the PDRM (Royal Malaysia Police) wish to take action unnecessarily, but if premises are being irresponsible, then they need to take the responsibility for it.

He went on to credit the support of Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin as Chairman of the Coordinating Committee of COVID-19 SOPs, as well as the Compliance Task Force Operations of Malaysia Royal Police (PDRM, cited above) for conducting enforcement throughout the country.
