Bangkok's heat index reaches 'very dangerous' level on 25 April, public advised to stay indoors

The Environmental Department has advised the public to refrain from outdoor activities, and to instead remain indoors, particularly those at higher risk.

Bangkok's heat index forecast for today (Thursday, 25 April 2024) is currently in the 'very dangerous' level, according to the city's Environmental Department

As reiterated by the Department, the heat index refers to the feels-like temperature an individual is expected to feel, depending on the air temperature and relative humidity at that point in time. In the 'very dangerous' level, the heat index will stand at 52°C or higher.

In this instance, the public has been advised to refrain from outdoor activities, and to instead remain indoors, particularly those at higher risk: young children aged five and below; the elderly aged 65 and above; pregnant women; patients, or people with chronic diseases.

People whose work involves prolonged exposure outdoors should take note, as well tourists ad people who exercise outdoors.

According to the daily weather forecast published on the Department's website, Bangkok Metropolitan is expected to face a hot day with haze and isolated showers/thunderstorms, with the minimum temperature ranging from 28-30°C and maximum temperature ranging from 35-40°C.
