In some light relief to a busy year, we've pulled together some of the most interesting parts of Google's Year in Search report for your browsing. Enjoy! 

Apart from the famed Spotify Wrapped, one of the other year-end recaps most of us look forward to is Google's Year in Search. In this year's edition of the top trending searches of the year, election results, monkeypox, and word game Wordle featured among the top globally. 

In some light relief to a busy year on the work front, we've pulled together some of the most interesting parts of the report for your browsing. Enjoy!

What was trending globally

• Among athletes, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Serena Williams topped the charts.
• Thor: Love and Thunder was the most Googled movie, followed by Black Adam, and Top Gun: Maverick. Have you seen them all?
• Recipes most Googled included paneer pasanda (stuffed cottage cheese), bolo caseiro (homemade cake), tuzlu kurabiye (salt cookie) - all sound delicious! 
• Pets were high on people's search lists: domestic short-haired cat, tabby cat, polydactyl cat, aspin, and labrador retriever were the top five.
• Keisya Levronka's Tak Ingin Usai was the song most searched for.

What was trending in Singapore

• News on COVID-19 cases, GST vouchers, CDC vouchers, monkeypox, and the Omega x Swatch partnership topped the charts.
• i Light Singapore was the most Googled place, followed by Gastrobeats, the LKY Musical, Marquee, and Northshore Plaza. Have you seen them all?
• Travel searches most Googled included Causeway Link, SGD to Yen, SG Arrival Card, VTL Singapore, and Google Flights. 
• TV shows were high on people's search lists: All of Us Are Dead, Singles Inferno, and Business Proposal were the top three.
• Australian Open was the sporting event most searched for.

What was trending in Malaysia

• News on Peninsular Malaysia floods, Perdana Menteri, Hand Foot Mouth Disease (HFMD), and influenza topped the charts. 
• Mat Kilau was the most Googled film, followed by KKN di Desa Penari, Black Adam, Top Gun, and Jurassic World. 
• Local personalities most Googled included Anwar Ibrahim, Zalina Azman, Najib Razak, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, and Azam Baki. 
• Domestic attractions were high on people's search lists: Genting Highlands, LaLaport, Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Cameron Highlands, and Sunway Lagoon.
• World Cup 2022 was the sporting event most searched for.

What was trending in Hong Kong

• Searches on vaccination appointment, mandatory testing, iPhone 14, and MIRROR concert topped the charts. 
• Vaccine passport was among the most Googled headlines, followed by coupons, climate change, NFTs, and Employment Guarantee Programme. 
• Movies most Googled included Corridor of Justice, Tomorrow's War, and Top Gun: Maverick.
• Finance topics were high on people's search lists: coupons, NFTs, OpenSea, green bonds, and Luna crypto.
• Hins Cheung was the celebrity second-most searched for.

What was trending in Thailand

• Searches on local attractions Bangkok, Suphan Buri, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai, and Rayong topped the charts. Have you seen them all?
• Singapore was the most Googled international place, followed by Vietnam, Laos, Japan, and Korea. 
• Games most Googled included Wordle, Tower of Fantasy, Morning Moon Village, Overwatch 2, and Haunted Dorm. 
• Recipes were high on people's search lists: chicken rice dipping sauce recipe, boiled chicken with fish sauce recipe, and nam prik ong recipe.
• Justin Bieber concert was the musical event most searched for.

What was trending in Indonesia

• Searches on film and TV series such as KKN di Desa Penari, Miracle in Cell No. 7, and Mencuri Raden Saleh topped the charts. Have you seen them all?
• 'Why can there be a time difference' was the most Googled 'why' question, followed by 'why did humans create money'. 
• National events most Googled included cooking oil, climate change, earthquake today, Omicron symptoms, and President's Cup 2022. 
• Exercise was high on people's search lists: cardio, rowing, fencing, sporting goods stores nearby, and free sports app.
• Bekal sekolah (lunchbox ideas) was the recipe most searched for.

What was trending in India

• Searches on Indian Premier League, CoWIN, FIFA World Cup, Asia Cup, and ICC T20 World Cup topped the charts. Did you catch all the sporting action?
• 'Agneepath scheme' was the most Googled 'what is' question, followed by 'what is NATO' and 'what is NFT'. 
• Recipes most Googled included paneer pasanda (stuffed cottage cheese), modak, chicken soup, and malai kofta. 
• Checking what's nearby was high on people's search lists, as they were looking for: COVID vaccine, swimming pool, water park, movies, and takeout restaurants.
• Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva was the movie most searched for.
