CPF launches contribution alert service for Singapore employees

With this service, if employees discover any discrepancies in their CPF contributions, they can inform their employers promptly.

Singapore's Central Provident Fund (CPF) Board has officially launched its CPF Contribution Alert service on 1 September 2022, expected to benefit over two million CPF members.

The service sends an alert through email and push notifications from the CPF mobile app to members when their monthly CPF contributions are credited. With this, members can now verify the declared wages and CPF contributions paid by their employers more efficiently.

This service caters to members who want to know if their employers had made CPF contributions for them, and whether they had done so accurately and promptly.

Members can receive the alert through two ways:

A) Receiving the CPF contribution alert via email

Members can view the wages declared by their employer, their CPF contributions credited, and a breakdown of their employee’s share of CPF contributions after entering unique information only known to them. The CPF contribution alert email will end with “@inform.cpf.gov.sg”.

The information can be viewed via a web browser or through the CPF mobile app.

B) Receiving the CPF contribution alert via push notification

Members can click on the notification banner to view the CPF contribution alert after logging in with their Singpass.

According to its statement, the CPF Board had received positive feedback from members who received the alerts in the pilot phase. Over 16,000 members gave an average rating of 4.6 out of five points for this service.

Members said the service had encouraged them to check their CPF contributions more actively and "not take for granted that the contributions tallied with the amount indicated in their pay slips". Further, they also "liked the convenience of the service" as it allows them to check their contributions without the need to log in to their CPF accounts.

Director for the Collection Services Department Liu Lung Kwan said: “With the CPF contribution alert service, if employees discover any discrepancies in their CPF contributions, they can inform their employers promptly."

Employers are then expected to rectify the errors without delay. In the event that employees are unable to get a satisfactory response from employers, they can lodge a report with CPF Board. Such early reporting prevents arrears from snowballing and improves the chances of recovery, shared Liu.
