Logistics provider DB Schenker has shared that it will be expanding its footprint in Singapore with its upcoming Red Lion2 facility that is expected to be completed by H1 2025.
This was announced alongside a ground-breaking ceremony for the facility on Monday (14 August 2023). Calling this its largest investment globally, the company said the amount will go past 101mn Euros.
As shared in a press release on the Economic Development Board's (EDB's) website, Red Lion2 combines sustainability and innovation leadership into DB Schenker's Singapore masterplan at the Tampines LogisPark, with a skybridge to connect Red Lion2 to its existing adjacent SLC3 facility. In total, the company is expected to have more than 16 locations and over 3.97mn square feet of operational footprint throughout Singapore.
Commenting on this, Junie Fo, Vice President, Commercial and Professional Services, EDB, noted that among the new facility's "standout features" are a collaborative sandbox with local small and medium enterprises to pioneer logistics technologies, its pursuit of Zero Energy and carbon negative emissions, and new automation solutions to increase efficiency.
"Red Lion2 will also create many skilled and high-value jobs to further strengthen Singapore's position as a global logistics and supply chain management hub," she added.
