Every second Friday of the month for the rest of 2021, known as 'Fuel Up Fridays', employees will be be able to "fuel up" through a morning of collective learning, followed by an afternoon off to recharge.

From 10 September 2021, Manulife will be dedicating the second Friday of each month, through the end of the year, to a new wellbeing initiative globally - Fuel Up Fridays.

In a press release, the firm said on these days, employees will be be able to "fuel up" through a morning of collective learning, followed by an afternoon off to recharge, in support of employees' mental and physical health.

Additionally, Manulife has shared that come 2022, its more than 37,000 colleagues across its markets will be given five extra personal leave days, which the release noted is "in appreciation of all the hard work they've done helping people make decisions easier and lives better." The same had earlier been done for 2021.

Manulife CEO Roy Gori said: "Our team has shown incredible stamina as we continue to navigate the global pandemic, supporting our customers, our communities, and each other.

"We know that many different factors contribute to our physical and mental wellbeing, and that's why we'll continue to take a holistic approach focused on fueling our creativity through learning, and fueling our resilience through rest."

Earlier this year, Manulife launched "Elevate", which comprises activities and celebrations around healthy living, and also marked the second "Thank You Day" off for all colleagues globally.
