HR Excellence Awards 2024, Singapore: Unveiling the finalists

Commenting on the judging experience, jury member Ruby Jean N. Buenviaje, Vice President, People and Culture Transformation, AboitizPower said that what was "especially commendable" about this year's entries was the emphasis companies are placing on corporate social responsibility, diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging, and wellbeing. "The fact that these initiatives have been elevated to the leadership or tier one agenda — evidenced by substantial investments of time, resources, and funding - demonstrates a genuine commitment to integrating these practices throughout their organisations", she said.

Arthur Lam, Head of Global Learning & Development, South Asia & Japan, Micron Technology added that it was "an inspiring experience for me to see such impressive submissions of excellent HR initiatives".

"It’s all about devising the right vision and strategy based on business needs, engaging stakeholders, executing seamlessly and tenaciously, and clearly tracking KPIs. Kudos to all the finalists!"

Other jury members also shared their views:

Uday Burra, Head of Care – APJ, Nokia
, said he was "truly amazed at how these organisations have transformed ideas from conceptualisation to grassroots execution, linking high-level strategy with tangible employee experiences."

He added :"We need more examples of exceptional thinking meeting efficient execution. Huge congratulations to all the finalists who have achieved this remarkable feat."

Meanwhile, Eunice Kong, Vice President, Human Resources for Asia Pacific South, Evonik South East Asia, found it "humbling and exciting to witness the fantastic and impactful HR work being carried out by exceptional HR teams in Singapore."

"Their proactive approach to addressing employee needs, combined with progressive and innovative strategies for talent management, has significantly enhanced their efforts in the talent war to attract and retain top talent, contributing to their organisations' success", the leader commented.

Finally, Phil Wells, Head of People, Development & Learning – Asia Pacific, L’Oréal Travel Retail, said he was honoured to be a judge for the awards. "The dedication and innovation showcased in this year's entries are truly inspiring. A massive thank you to the organising committee, and to every organisation that shared their expertise and vision.

"Your contributions are shaping the future of HR in Singapore, and I’m incredibly grateful to be part of this vibrant community."
