As part of its newly launched ‘PathBuilders Programme’, the finance company will also welcome 14 students to its offices for a two-week workplace experience opportunity.

JPMorganChase has announced a US$1mn donation to support over 400 undergraduate students in vocational and community colleges to transition from school to the workforce.

This is part of its newly launched ‘PathBuilders Programme’, which has been introduced in partnership with the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS).

The funding will support the projects of three non-profit organisations based in Hong Kong, which are:

  • A Plastic Ocean Foundation‘s ‘Green Collar Incubation Scheme’ – to equip students studying STEM or sustainability related majors with theoretical knowledge and practical skills for entering the recycling industry.
  • WISE‘s ‘School to Work Youth Inclusion Project’ – to provide customised work-readiness training and professional exposure for young people with special education needs (SEN) in diverse industries, including financial services, hospitality, customer services and retail.
  • Big Education Platform‘s ‘Career LaunchPad Program’ – in partnership with Solomon Learning Group, to equip students with the life skills and experiences required for job readiness through foundational skills training, realistic job simulations, and structured pre-internship placements.

These organisations will also engage 30 corporate partners in six growing industries, including sustainability, financial services, healthcare, customer service, logistics, arts and culture.

On the other hand, as part of the 'PathBuilders Programme', JPMorganChase will welcome 14 students to its offices for a two-week workplace experience opportunity.

“JPMorganChase is committed to helping young people gain the skills and experience they need to access better career opportunities, regardless of their background. Ensuring that everyone has access to the support and training they need is critical for a more equitable future,” said Cedric Cheung, Head of Listed Structured Products Sales, Asia Pacific at J.P. Morgan and Senior Sponsor of the programme.

“Educators, employers and non-profit partners all play a critical role in coming together to create opportunities for our workforce of the future and we are delighted to be involved.”

“Nurturing young talent is vital to sustainable social development. Through collaborating with different stakeholders, we co-create innovative solutions to equip young people with the most relevant skills needed for their future career, also enabling them to contribute to our community,” said Chua Hoi Wai, Chief Executive of the HKCSS.

“With JPMorganChase’s funding, we are able to support more organisations with interesting, impactful and scalable approaches to career readiness and work experiences for better career pathways.”
