Effective 19 August 2024 (Monday), drivers from Singapore with queries about Malaysia’s Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) will have access to detailed information on the application process through a partner vendor in Woodlands.
Malaysia's Minister for Transport Anthony Loke said on 1 August in Johor Bahru, that an information counter will be opened in Woodlands to help drivers with their queries.
According to an article by CNA, the information counter will be managed by a Singapore firm in partnership with TCSens, the vendor company appointed by Malaysia’s Road Transport Department (JPJ), to address queries from Singaporean drivers.
As stated in the article, Minister Loke said the move comes following queries TCSens had received about the VEP, from drivers who had not brought along the supporting documents.
"So, to further simplify this process, TCSens will work with their partner in Singapore to open an office or information counter in Woodlands within the next two weeks,” he was quoted as saying.
Further quoted in the report, Minister Loke said as of 31 July, about 58,791 VEP applications have been received, more than double the number reported in end-June, since the announcement on the deadline made on 28 May.
Drivers are required to bring along the essential documents such as the vehicle insurance certificate, a copy of the identification card, and the Certificate of Entitlement (COE) for application. They must then activate the VEP tags within seven days of receiving them via mail.
More details on the location of the information counter and the services that may be rendered there have yet to be disclosed and will be shared in the future.
