Up the ranks: Alissa Sargeant is Meltwater's Head of Talent Acquisition for Asia Pacific

Based in Sydney, Sargeant will lead the organisation's efforts to ramp up talent recruitment across the region, powering up the business for a new phase of growth through exciting new initiatives.

Meltwater, a media intelligence and data analytics company, has appointed Alissa Sargeant as the Head of Talent Acquisition for Asia Pacific (APAC) to boost growth momentum in the region.

Based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, Sargeant will lead the organisation's efforts to ramp up talent recruitment across the region, powering up the business for a new phase of growth through exciting new initiatives.

Prior to this appointment, she was based in Singapore where plied her trade at IT company NCR Corporation for five years as a Human Resources Business Partner for Asia Pacific and Japan, after her time with biotechnology research company Thermo Fisher Scientific's talent acquisition department, residing between Singapore and Australia.

Separately, Meltwater has also added two other senior appointments to lead its marketing and legal functions. The first is Upali Dasgupta, who steps into the role of Marketing Director for APAC. Based in Singapore, her role is to build out Meltwater’s marketing function, manage its strategic brand direction, and drive business growth via integrated marketing programmes. 

Another is Anthony Herman, who joins Meltwater as the Head of Legal for APAC. Similar to Sargeant, Herman is based in the Greater Melbourne Area, Australia where he will bring to the table his nearly two decades worth of law experience in technology and commercial law at companies like software development companies such as SAP, and ClickSoftware.

“Over the past few years we’ve seen exponential growth within the APAC region, and these senior appointments will play a strategic role as Meltwater navigates its next phase of growth.” said David Hickey, Executive Director, APAC, Meltwater, adding that the team is "excited to be expanding our capabilities".

In a released statement, it was shared that Meltwater began operations in APAC back in Australia in 2006, and has grown from a team of two to a team of close to 400 across all functions. The team has also witnessed rapid growth within the region, with a regional revenue growth of 50% since 2018. Recently, Meltwater was also appointed by Singapore’s Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) as an official vendor to provide mainstream and social media monitoring and analytics services for various key departments and ministries.
