Average days of paid annual leave for full-time resident employees in Singapore (by income group)

Those earning S$5,000 and above per month had an average of 21 days per year, according to the Ministry of Manpower.

In 2023, Singapore recorded an average of 12 days of paid annual leave provided to full-time resident employees aged 25 to 64, for those earning below S$2,000 a month.

This number was higher amongst those earning between S$2,000 to S$4,999 per month at 17 days; and 21 days for those earning S$5,000 and above per month, according to the Ministry of Manpower.

The ministry was responding to a Parliamentary query on the mean and median number of days of paid annual leave provided to full-time resident employees in the above-mentioned age group and pay groups.

Further shared in the response, the median number of days of paid annual leave provided to full-time resident employees aged 25 to 64 is:

  • 14 days for those earning below S$2,000 a month;
  • 15 days for those earning between S$2,000 to S$4,999 per month; and
  • 21 days for those earning S$5,000 and above per month.

MOM further reminded all employers that annual leave is one of several statutory employment benefits to support employees in balancing their work and personal needs.

On top of annual leave, employees are also entitled to paid sick leave and parental leave, for their respective needs.

"Leave entitlement must therefore be viewed holistically. Agencies regularly review leave entitlements to better support workers." One such example is the upcoming enhnacements to parental leave in Singapore, where as part of efforts to better support parents in caring for their infants, the Government will provide 10 additional weeks of fully paid shared parental leave in two phases from 1 April 2025.
