This work rotation not only helps develop new skills and expand work experience but also aligns with the government’s objective to create a more responsive and competitive public service, JPA said.
The Public Service Department (JPA) in Malaysia has shared that effective 3 February2 025, officers who have been serving at government service counters for more than five years will be placed on a work rotation arrangement.
The primary aim is to boost productivity by offering officers new perspectives through diverse assignments. This work rotation not only helps develop new skills and expand work experience but also aligns with the government’s objective to create a more responsive and competitive public service, JPA said in its circular on 27 January.
This implementation comes following recommendations by Chief Secretary of Government Shamsul Azri, who had tasked JPA with reviewing and implementing a work rotation process for officers who have served at the government service counter for over five years. This period of five years has been deemed long, warranting a reassessment to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the public service, it was highlighted.
To ensure the successful execution of this initiative, JPA has called on various government bodies and agencies to identify officers eligible for this. Chief secretaries of the various ministries have also been tasked with overseeing the implementation of this work rotation within their respective departments, under JPA’s guidance.
"The rotation must be executed without disrupting daily operations at the service counter," JPA said.
