The awards, as always, are judged by a panel of top HR leaders. This year, the panel included senior HR professionals from organisations such as Alcon, BAT Malaysia, HP Malaysia, Infineon Technologies, Novugen Pharma, and Sime Darby Healthcare.

One of the awards’ judges, Bee Hong, Head/Director, Human Resources, East Asia Manufacturing, from Alcon, stated: "I am happy and overwhelmed to see that there are many new companies/entries this year, which is a great sign of increasing competitiveness. It is even more amazing to observe various new initiatives and creativity in formatting people and culture strategy and programmes, particularly post-pandemic, transformed to new ways of working and catering to the needs and expectations for younger generations like Millennials.

"Innovation, change, and agility are key for HR practitioners to play vital roles in supporting business excellence and sustaining a great place to work. Well done to all participants and congratulations to all winners!”

Additionally, Khairul Syafiqah Binti Mokhtar, Head of Human Resources from Natura Malaysia, commented: "In a nutshell, the pandemic has pushed forward the ideology of future-forward strategy or policy. Many challenges stemmed from the VUCA environment brought upon sudden MCO. It is encouraging to see that, post-pandemic, most companies have taken a proactive approach to incorporate all the uncertainties in managing their talent. It is totally relevant in today's environment of IR4.0 and amended rules & regulations.

"Some initiatives are comprehensive, while some have room for improvement. But the bottom line is that employers need to transform to attract, develop and retain their talent if they wish to maintain their competitive advantage and sustainable growth."

Meanwhile, Ramesh Manickam, Human Resources Director of Rapid Manufacturing (RPD MFG Connectivity), mentioned: "It was a great honour being one of the judges this year. I’m extremely thrilled and amazed with all the smart approaches and out of the box strategies by each organisation. The pandemic has pushed the boundaries of each organisation to think, design, develop and deploy innovative HR activities.

"Bravo to all the companies that participated as participation itself is a first step of success. Winning the award will be the encouragement and motivation to set a benchmark to others. The first step is to establish that something is possible then probability will occur. Congratulations to everyone who participated and kudos to the winners!"

Shaukhi Hashim, Director of Human Resources, from The RuMa Hotel and Residences, highlighted: "The are an eye-opener on what any organisation can do to achieve their goal. It takes an extra mile to make your company different from others. I always believe to be successful; one must have creative thinking or in laymen’s terms, thinking outside the box. To see what they can offer to react to COVID-19 shows only those with commitment can flourish further and will challenge them to stand out from the norm.

"To be different, HR should never stop challenging their capabilities and push harder in order to be amongst the best."
