EVE Energy's expansion in Malaysia set to create over 1,000 jobs

This move aims to strengthen local supply chains while reinforcing the country’s role in sustainable energy solutions.

EVE Energy Co. (EVE Energy), a full-scenario lithium battery platform company, has officially committed to expanding its Malaysian operations, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with InvestKedah.

As shared by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), the agreement, signed on 16 March 2025, marks the beginning of Phase Two of EVE Energy’s manufacturing facility development and aims to enhance Malaysia’s energy storage capabilities.

Expanding production to meet global demand

EVE Energy’s Phase Two expansion is a response to the rising global demand for energy storage systems (ESS). By increasing its manufacturing capacity, the company seeks to drive innovation and sustainability in the industry. This development is expected to generate more than 1,000 new job opportunities.

A key aspect of this initiative is fostering strong partnerships with Malaysian suppliers to build a powerful and technologically advanced local supply chain. Additionally, the influx of international suppliers through this expansion is expected to provide local enterprises with valuable mentorship and technical expertise, strengthening Malaysia’s industrial ecosystem.

Government support and economic impact

The Malaysian government has expressed strong support for this initiative, highlighting its role in strengthening our national energy security and commitment to environmental sustainability.

YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), stated: "EVE Energy’s Phase Two expansion in Kedah is a powerful testament to how clearly Malaysia has articulated its position as a forward-thinking hub for advanced manufacturing and sustainable energy solutions, through policies such as the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030, the National Automotive Policy (NAP) and the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).”

"What is equally important is how this helps foster a more robust local supply chain and creates high-value job opportunities, paving the way for Malaysia to lead in Southeast Asia’s green economy," he added.

Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, CEO of MIDA also highlighted the significance of the MoU. He mentioned: "As we move towards a cleaner and more energy-secure future, strategic investments like this reinforce our position as a regional leader in EV and battery technology."

Strengthening Malaysia’s ecosystem

EVE Energy’s expansion aligns with Malaysia’s broader efforts to support sustainable mobility ecosystem. In 2024, the country recorded RM15.8bn in approved investments in the transport equipment sector, emphasising its commitment to driving clean energy advancements. By leveraging this momentum, the Phase Two expansion will contribute to the development of Malaysia’s EV technology and accelerate the nation’s transition towards net-zero emissions.

Jincheng, Chairman and Founder of EVE Energy Co. said: “EVE Energy’s Malaysia factory, as the first step in its global expansion, will focus on creating an international benchmark project. It aims to drive the green energy transformation through technological innovation and advanced manufacturing capabilities, contributing to local economic development and job growth."
