The organisation said this collaboration is part of its continued efforts to advancing Singapore's Economy 2030 vision, centered around four key pillars — trade, enterprise, manufacturing, and services.
Lenovo Singapore has announced a partnership with the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) to support the upskilling of Singaporeans in the manufacturing and retail sectors, to encourage the adoption of AI-powered solutions.
As part of the partnership, Lenovo and SMF have jointly introduced a series of upskilling and reskilling programmes, designed to equip employees in the manufacturing and retail sectors with the necessary AI knowledge and hands-on experience using AI-powered smart manufacturing and retail solutions.
In a press release on Thursday (7 November 2024), Lenovo said the aim of the programmes is to instill specific knowledge on AI advancements into the workforce, as well as train employees with hands-on-experiences, to enhance productivity while bridging the skills gap in AI adoption.
Nigel Lee, Country General Manager at Lenovo Singapore, commented: “We recognise that Singapore's workforce is the backbone of the economy, and we are committed to supporting the growth of its employees through our smart solutions and talent development initiatives.
"By equipping local enterprises and their teams with the necessary tools and skills, we are helping them to become more competitive, sustainable, and future-ready.”
Lenovo's investments in talent development and fostering innovation hopes to create a pipeline of skilled professionals that will also benefit SMEs in Singapore, acknowledging the smaller organisations' need a skilled workforce to implement, manage, and optimise these technologies.
