SPX's 'Visible Policy' initiative contributes to its progress in closing the gender divide in Malaysia's courier industry

Lee Sun, Head of SPX, has said that she doesn't view courier and delivery as a male-dominated industry.

Sharing its progress on promoting women and closing the gender gap in the logistics sector, SPX, the delivery provider of SEA Group, has said that since 2021, it has hired 40 times more women in management and operational roles.

As of Q3 2023, 13% of couriers and 40% of sorters in its Malaysia workforce are women; helmed by a woman director, Cheah Lee Sun, as shared by the company in its two-year anniversary of inclusive action.

In a statement, Lee Sun, Head of SPX, has said that she doesn't view courier and delivery as a male-dominated industry. "No job is too heavy duty for women here, whether it involves heavy lifting or driving commercial vehicles. Everyone is welcome, in the spirit of inclusion and supporting upskilling local talents in the communities where we operate."

With 118 hubs across Malaysia, Lee Sun acknowledges that getting extra logistics capacity during peak periods can be very competitive.

To this effect, she makes personal visits to SPX facilities, and rides along with her drivers, both men and women, to support equal employee treatment and instant feedback. Further, SPX's 'Visible Policy' initiative provides active channels for employees to report integrity or harassment issues anonymously.

Finally, working flexibility as SPX couriers means women employees can drop their children off at schools while still managing their deliveries on shift.
