Up the ranks: Daniel O’Connor now leads BW Group’s people and culture strategy as Chief People Officer

Daniel brings extensive experience in strategic HR management, talent development, change management, and business transformation.

BW Group has welcomed Daniel O’Connor (picture above) as its new Chief People Officer, effective 1 April 2025 (Tuesday).

Based in Singapore, he also joins as a member of the Executive Committee and reports directly to the Executive Chairman.

In this new role, Daniel will oversee BW’s people and culture strategy across its 16 affiliates and more than 12,000 employees worldwide. He will play a pivotal role in fostering a strong corporate culture anchored in BW’s core values of being Collaborative', Ambitious, Reliable, and Enduring – while aligning leadership development and talent management with long-term business goals.

His portfolio also includes employee experience, succession planning, organisational effectiveness, HR operations, and group communications.

Reflecting on his new role, Daniel shared his enthusiasm with HRO: "I’m excited to collaborate with our globally diverse HR team. BW Group’s rich heritage and scale provide a powerful platform for synergies – leveraging group-wide talent, leadership and capability development opportunities that will enable us to meet our long-term business goals."

Daniel's appointment marks a return to the maritime industry, where he previously spent a significant part of his career with Rolls-Royce’s Marine business. He brings a wealth of experience in strategic HR management, talent development, change management, and business transformation. Most recently, he served as Chief People Officer at ALBA Group Asia.

His leadership comes at a crucial time for BW Group, as global maritime group expands into sustainable technologies in wind, solar, batteries, energy storage systems, and water treatment.
