In this position, in line with the company’s strategic agenda, Eng Hui will be providing HR business partnership oversight for Skyworks Filter Solutions Singapore along with being responsible for the company’s full HR spectrum of talent acquisition, talent management, reward, learning & development, and digital HRIS activities.
He will continue to be based in Singapore, and report to Karen Lim, Head of HR for APJ and Greater China region, Skyworks Solutions, Inc.
On this occasion, HRO caught up with Eng Hui to find out more about his role and what he looks forward to most. Interview excerpts below:
Q As you move on from your previous role in Skyworks, what has been your most cherished moment with your HR & business teams?
Dealing with the unprecedented changes and challenges which COVID-19 has brought to us as a company over the past 18 months.
I was part of the COVID-19 taskforce committee with Skyworks. We had to move from a high-pace, fast-change business-as-usual environment to an 'excellence in crisis management' environment, whilst we were still taking the longer-term aspirations, legacy, and values of our company as a basis.
One of the company’s core values is excellence where we strive to be the best-in-class in the filter business in terms of quality & overall factory operations.
Both HR & business team members have been highly agile and always proactive to ensure health & safety remain top priorities for our employees during this pandemic.
Q As talent acquisition has always been your forte, what made you take the leap to be a strategic HR business partner & leader?
In my years in the corporate world as an HR professional, I have always wanted to make an impact to the business which I represent.
Other than introducing new talent into an organisation in my current TA capacity, I’ve always longed to be in a position that allows me to shape the future of an organisation, and one that orchestrates the people agenda into driving operational excellence, making an impact to the top and bottom-line of the organisation.
Having spent two years in Skyworks, this is a step-up career opportunity for me to embark on to partner with one of the key factory sites in Skyworks, and influence the talent landscape which will help accelerate Skyworks closer to the future factory automation arena in Singapore.
