Malaysia and India collaborate on scaling up the industry-driven skills framework

The MoU will focus on developing a skilled talent pool in Malaysia, involving critical occupations in key sectors and TVET education.

On a working visit to India, Malaysia's Minister of Human Resources YB Sivakumar Varatharaju witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between TalentCorp and National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) India.

As shared by Malaysia's Ministry of Human Resources (KSM), this MoU will pave the way for KSM and Talentcorp to strengthen the industry-driven skills framework, particularly with regard to critical occupations in key sectors, as well as technical and vocational education and training (TVET) education.

The MoU is also regarded as "outward-looking" and a "catalyst" in accelerating KSM's focus on strengthening the national skills framework and developing a skilled talent pool in Malaysia.

Following the MoU exchange, NSDC shared more on the Sectoral Skills Framework and the impact created from it. The session was joined by Secretary General of the Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, Atul Kumar Tiwari, and CEO of NSDC, Ved Mani Tiwari. Also present were TalentCorp's Deputy Secretary General (Operation), YBhg. Datuk Muhd. Khair Razman Mohamed Annuar, and CEO, Thomas Mathew, as well as the Deputy High Commissioner of Malaysia in New Delhi, Amizal Fadzli Rajali.

Taking place from 1 to 4 April 2023, the four-day work visit also saw pioneer collaboration in the field of alternative medical treatment for cancer patients involving Malaysia's Social Security Organisation (PERKESO, also known as SOCSO) and the Apollo Cancer Centre in Chennai. The alternative treatment uses proton technology that SOCSO wants to use to support existing rehabilitation services.

SOCSO also plans to establish and offer neuro-modulation services for the treatment of injuries such as spinal cord, stroke, and neurological problems such as epilepsy and Parkinson's.
