Civil servants in Grade 56 and below will receive RM500, while Government pensioners will receive RM250.
The Malaysian government has introduced a special Aidilfitri financial assistance package to support civil servants, pensioners, and religious educators in managing their expenses ahead of the festive season.
Support for civil servants and pensioners
According to a Facebook post by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the initiative will provide RM500 to civil servants in Grade 56 and below, including those with contract appointments. Government pensioners, including both retires veterans and non-pension veterans, will receive RM250.
A Bernama report shared on the Ministry of Finance’s platform highlighted that the financial aid is expected to benefit 1.6mn civil servants and retirees, with an estimated allocation of nearly RM900mn. Cited in the report, PM Anwar noted that disciplined civil service and improved economic growth had allowed the government to provide this assistance.
The government expressed hope that this financial aid would reduce financial burden while also "serving as an encouragement for them to continue their service with dedication."
It was further stated that contract-appointed officers and staff, including those under contract of service, contract for service, daily part-time positions, and MySTEP appointments, would also be eligible for the aid.
Support for religious educators
In a separate announcement, the government has also extended the RM250 Aidilfitri special financial assistance to over 70,000 religious educators and mosque personnels, including Quran and Fardu Ain (KAFA) teachers, Takmir teachers, imams, bilals, tok siak, noja, and marbut.
The decision was announced during a Ramadan breaking of fast event in Kemaman, Terengganu, where the PM Anwar acknowledged the significant contributions of these individuals. A total allocation of RM17mn has been designated for this initiative.
These financial measures reflect the government’s commitment to supporting members of society, including civil servants, retirees, and religious educators.
PM Anwar emphasised: “This is why it is important that when the government generates revenue, we return it to the people.”
