Effective 1 April 2023, Rina Sarif has taken on the role of Group Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Malaysia's pioneer takaful operator, Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Berhad (STMB). In this new role, Rina will report to the Group's Chief Executive Officer, and is expected to deliver on the company’s growth ambitions in her capacity leading HR.
In doing so, Rina is keen to prioritise the building of capabilities and creating a culture of high performance for Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Keluarga Berhad, which manages the Family Takaful business and Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Am Berhad, which manages the general insurance business.
On the appointment, Rina shared exclusively with Human Resources Online (HRO): "I am excited to provide people strategic insights and stakeholder imperatives to position the company at the forefront of the takaful insurance industry."
As a senior and well-respected HR leader, she comes with extensive experience in the implementation of human capital transformation initiatives, organisational design and development, and is responsible for formulating and implementing progressive strategies in developing new talents for the current and future needs of the organisation.
Looking at the next one to two years, her top priorities will be:
- Positioning Takaful Malaysia as a leading takaful insurance provider with a strong talent brand,
- Build a resilient workforce that is skilled for the future,
- Facilitating a sense of meaningful connection across a distributed workforce through reimagining the employee experience,
- Raising the next generation of holistic, thoughtful, strategic, and empathetic leaders.
Rina, who is also a DEI champion, has helmed various leadership positions in diverse industries, namely financial institutions, chemical and manufacturing, energy and utility within the spheres of government-linked and multinational companies. Prior to this, Rina helmed the Human Capital Division as Chief Human Capital Officer of Lembaga Tabung Haji, where she was credited with launching 'THriving Women', a platform to create awareness about the reality of women in leadership.
On a more personal level, her unconventional wisdom and drive to innovate towards the future of work have led her to various HR accolades. She was recently appointed as Adjunct Professor for UNITAR, in addition to her appointment as a Council Member of Women Leaders Network of Expert by TalentCorp Malaysia as part of driving the DEI agenda for the nation.
